2012 SUMMER ART CAMPS
Murals By Massucci is offering (6) different Art Camps this summer for kids entering grades 2-12. There is also younger class for students in grades 1-5.
- Class sizes will be limited to 10 children in order to give kids personalized attention to improve their art skills and grow their creativity.
- Each class will begin with a brief instruction and note-taking period. Handouts will also be provided for those that are not avid note-takers.
- All sessions will end with an Art Show and pot-luck lunch, with the exception of the Advanced Art/Portfolio class (no pot-luck lunch).
- All students will be provided with an art journal to keep notes. Those that attend a second session can opt to keep a set of drawing pencils instead of a 2nd art journal.
Students who take 2 classes or more will receive a 10% discount.
Students who take 2 classes on the same day, may pack a lunch and stay all day (no extra charge for the lunch period).
2012 SUMMER SESSIONS:
Session 1 – Elements of Art & Design (Drawing) *NEW projects from 2011
GRADES: 2-12
DATES: June 25 -28, 2012
TIME: 9:00 – 12:00 pm
FINAL ART SHOW: Friday, June 29 11:30 – 1:00 pm
This series of classes is designed to teach your child the fundamentals and basic principles of art: Line, Shape, Color, Value.
The students will complete 4 projects that will include many art techniques, styles and projects.
Since individualized attention is provided to each student, this class can accommodate students from any age group and/or artistic ability level.
Session 2 – Painting *NEW projects from 2011
GRADES: 2-12
DATES: June 25 -28, 2012
TIME: 9:00 – 12:00 pm
FINAL ART SHOW: Friday, June 29 11:30 – 1:00 pm
This series of classes is designed to teach your child about art movements and periods throughout history. Each of the 4 sessions will focus on a different artistic period (Impressionism, Pointillism, Fauvism, Pop Art) as well as artists that worked in those styles. Your child will complete 4 acrylic paintings on canvas in each of the described styles. Since individualized attention is provided to each student, this class can accommodate students from any age group and/or artistic ability level.
Session 3 – Principles of Art & Design (Drawing)
GRADES: 2-12
DATES: July 9 -12, 2012
TIME: 9:00 – 12:00 pm
FINAL ART SHOW: Friday, July 13th, 11:30 – 1:00 pm
This series of classes is designed to teach your child the fundamentals and basic principles of art & design: Symmetry, Contrast, Pattern/Repetition, Emphasis.
The students will complete 4 projects that will include many art techniques, styles and projects, including M.C. Escher Tesslation, Op Art, Zentangle Inspired Art, and Eric Carle inspired Collage.
Since individualized attention is provided to each student, this class can accommodate students from any age group and/or artistic ability level.
Session 4 – Painting
GRADES: 2-12
DATES: July 9 -12, 2012
TIME: 12:30 – 3:30 pm
FINAL ART SHOW: Friday, July 13th, 11:30 – 1:00 pm
This series of classes is designed to teach your child about art movements and periods throughout history.
Each of the 4 sessions will focus on a different artistic period (Cubism, De Stijl, Surrealism, Action Painting) as well as artists that worked in those styles.Your child will complete 4 acrylic paintings on canvas in each of the described styles.All students will be provided with an art journal to keep notes. Those that attend a previous session can opt to keep a set of drawing pencils instead of a 2nd art journal.Since individualized attention is provided to each student, this class can accommodate students from any age group and/or artistic ability level.
Session 5 – Advanced Art/Portfolio Prep
GRADES: 8-12
DATES: Mondays: July 16, July 23 and July 30
TIME: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
FINAL ART SHOW: Monday, July 30 from 11:30 – 12:00 pm.
This series of classes is designed to help build upon your child’s artistic strengths and enhance their art portfolio.
Three (3) projects will be completed: graphite drawing of a bike, torn paper self portrait and a still life drawing.
Class will be given instructions and a variety of options, then strongly encouraged to use their own creativity, style and design concepts.
Students will each receive individual attention and assistance throughout the classes.
Session 6 – Multiculturalism through Art & Music (Making Instruments)
GRADES: 1-5
DATES: Mondays: July 16, July 23 and July 30
TIME: 12:30 – 2:30 pm
FINAL ART SHOW: Monday, July 30 from 2:30 – 3:00 pm.
This series of classes is designed to teach your child about different cultures by creating musical instruments (that work) using recycled materials plus new materials.
Students will use various techniques (papier-mâché, paint, glue, etc.) to make: Australian Didgerdoo, Latin American Maracas, Chilean Rain Stick, African Doumbek (drum), and Native American Talking Stick.
